Recovery
What is important to understand
Pain and reduced movement are influenced by several factors. The location of discomfort does not, by itself, identify a single cause. Duration, intensity, symptom pattern, physical load, recovery and general health help build a more useful picture.
What may help
Maintaining tolerable activity, varying positions, recovering adequately and progressing exercise gradually are often useful strategies. The right plan depends on the individual and should respect symptoms, capacity and goals.
Practical principles
- Avoid prolonged rest unless clinically advised
- Increase activity gradually
- Observe trends over days, not only isolated moments
- Seek help when symptoms persist or limit important activities
When to seek help
Assessment is advisable when pain persists, worsens, significantly affects sleep or activities, or causes concern. Seek urgent help following significant trauma, breathlessness, chest pain, unexplained fever, sudden loss of strength or sensation, or changes in bladder or bowel control.
